The RA440 Bridge modem incorporates a 500mW UHF radio modem and a Motorola quad-band GPRS modem. Where the regular A440 connects to the A850 gateway by means of a cable, the RA440 ('Remote A440') connects via GPRS
The RA440 wireless bridge telemetry modem is used in areas that lack GSM coverage and don't have access to mains power, internet and phone connection. In this situation remote radio telemetry units can be installed on site wherever they are needed and the RA440 will be placed at the nearest location that has GSM/GPRS coverage. The RTU's can then communicate with the RA440 via UHF and the RA440 then communicates with the A850 gateway via GSM/GPRS. The process of communication is very quickly and once instructed by the A850, communication with the UHF usually starts within just a few seconds wherever it is in the world. A standard solar panel is used to charge the RA440's internal battery. If more power is needed a standard 12 Volt battery can be connected to the external power port and/or a secondary battery pack can be installed inside the RTU.
It is therefore possible to see that an Adcon telemetry unit can be installed anywhere in the world, irrespective of power, signal or timing issues. That is capability unmatched by any company globally. Clients therefore can have telemetry dataloggers installed where they want, not where there is signal! License upgrades to the A850 gateway provide the capability to connect to up to 10 RA440's.
