Vitesse du son

La vitesse du son (ou bien la vélocité du son) réfère à la vitesse des ondes de son qui passent à travers un milieu élastique. L’exacte vélocité varie selon le milieu utilisé (Par exemple, les ondes de son passent dans l’eau plus rapidement que dans l’air parce-que l’eau a une plus grande densité). Les caractéristiques du milieu sont donc des facteurs importants à prendre en compte, en particulier la température.

La vitesse approximative du son dans l’air (en mètres par seconde) peut être calculée en utilisant la formule suivante.

Dans la formule, le Theta \vartheta\, représente la température en degrés celcius. (°C).
