The Aquaflex soil moisture probe is ideal for applications where monitoring soil moisture at just one point isn't good enough. It samples a full 3 meters length of the soil over a 50mm radius of measurement along the entire sensor.
The Aquaflex soil moisture instrument is ideal for the monitoring of crops or large-scale turf areas where the critical soil moisture information may be at fairly shallow depths. The Aquaflex probe also features an integrated soil temperature sensor for applications requiring both parameters. All electronics are completely enclosed in a robust moulding. The soil moisture probes are maintenance free after installation and needs no more attention for up to 10 years.
A process called Time Domain Transmission (TDT) is used by Aquaflex. This involves an electrical pulse being sent along a transmission line embedded within the probe. The evanescent field around the transmission line interacts with the surrounding medium. The information is extracted from the shape of the pulse which gives a good indication of soil conductivity - information that is used to compensate the moisture measurement reading to maintain accuracy in conductive soils.
