The SM1 soil moisture probe is an inexpensive capacitance probe which measures soil moisture in all kinds of soils in a wide range of depths, from 30cm to 150cm. All models come with one sensor every 10cm.
The soil moisture sensor measures soil moisture by sending an electromagnetic signal through sensors that are mounted at preset depths. Soil moisture is then derived from the resulting soils conductivity measurements.
A specifically soil temperature probe sensor for measuring soil temperature at various depths. The ST soil and water temperature probe is housed in a stainless steel enclosure which can be inserted into the ground down to 30cm (12").
The Aquaflex soil moisture probe is ideal for applications where monitoring soil moisture at just one point isn't good enough. It samples a full 3 meters length of the soil over a 50mm radius of measurement along the entire sensor.
The Echo2 soil moisture probe is a capacitance type sensor which measures the dielectric constant of the soil in order to find its volumetric water content.
The Hydra Probe II soil moisture probe is unlike other soil moisture sensors and measures moisture by concurrently measuring both factors which influence this parameter: the conductivity and the dielectric constant.
The introduction of the EasyAG series of soil moisture probes from Sentek has given soil moisture monitoring a significant boost. As well as moisture, the TriSCAN sensors also measure soil salinity.
