The new 101B is has been specifically designed to be a basic and economical, yet robust, measurement device for groundwater levels. It is suitable for depth measurement in boreholes, wells, tanks and standpipes.
How the 101B Works
The Solinst 101B Water Level Meter has a solid stainless steel probe which is connected to a durable polyethylene flat tape. The meter is powered by a 9 volt battery which is housed inside the reel hub.
When the probe comes into contact with the water, the electrical circuit is closed and a signal is sent to the reel which triggers the light and buzzer. The water level is then measured by reading the tape at the top of the borehole or well.
Construction, Probe and the Tape
The Model 101B has a sturdy construction and functional design, with handle to wind the tape up. The reel also has a brake. The probe is conveniently stored in the probe holder on the faceplate.
The polyethylene flat tape is heat embossed at every centimetre and metre. It is 10mm wide and available in 30m, 60m and 100m lengths.
The P1 Probe is manufactured from stainless steel, is leak proof and is designed to reduce false signals caused by cascading water.
